After fleeing captivity and slavery from the Storm Giants, Kaine returned briefly to set free the rest of the half orcs. He relied on the aid and friendship of a disgruntled cave gnome, Rabble Wadderbabble. Having unknowingly caused Rabble to be excommunicated, Kaine has now pledged his service to atone for the part he played in Rabble’s exile.
Kaine often finds himself at the crossroads between doing what is best for himself and doing what is best for someone less fortunate. More times than not he is willing to give much so that others may have whatever he can provide. Having been raised a slave, he knows all too well what not having enough feels like, and he does not suffer others to find themselves there often.
“I was flogged the first time at age 5. I was told to pick something up. I did not understand what the Storm Giant wanted. My age granted me a second direct order, and when I failed to understand the same words a second time, the large Half orc standing next to me was ordered to give me 3 lashes. I learned quickly to take action in the fields and mines for the giants. The wrong action was often better than inaction.
“I do not know my parents. The orc who birthed me was stripped of me within hours. I was given to a different mother for feeding and was mixed in rotation with the rest at the next [ huddle. Every 2 weeks the Storm giants would gather all the half orcs together and redistribute them. They told us this was for our health. It made it exceptionally hard to know anyone. You may form a fast friendship with another but chances were you may never see them again after the next huddle.
